SIL212 - Boxed set of silver hallmarked portraits

In stock

Set of solid silver, English hallmarked antique buttons.  The portrait image among foliage is sometimes called Mary Queen of Scots - she has an Elizabethan ruff and a crown.  Hallmark shows the lion for sterling silver, anchor for Birmingham Assay office, and date letter - 5 have the letter "a" for 1900 and 1 has the letter "Z" for 1899, but they look like a matched set.  Initials L&S for maker.  Size 1.1" (2.7 cm).  Good clear hallmarks and generally good condition though one is slightly less domed than the other five.  Would all benefit from a gentle polish.  Box is vintage but not the original - looks as if it has been adapted to fit the buttons.  Catch is missing and some wear to the outside.  But still nice for storing or displaying the buttons.  Price is for the boxed set of 6.
