Large vintage/antique picture button showing a lion among rocks, looking at the famous Grand Colonnade of Palmyra - an ancient city in the Syrian desert, now a World Heritage Site. The button is of white metal, tinted black, two-part construction with black painted metal back and loop shank. Some age related wear to the back as shown.

Set of 4 vintage metal buttons, depicting famous sights of Paris. These are the Basilica of Sacre Coeur, the Eiffel Tower, the Arc de Triomphe and the coat of arms of Paris. The badge of Paris has a sailing ship on waves of the sea, illustrating the city’s motto Fluctuat nec mergitur …. “tossed by waves but does not sink”. All four buttons have a silvered colour and textured finish behind the pictures, a flat back and a squarish ribbon shank. Probably first half of 20th century, made as souvenir buttons but with great charm. Price is for the set of 4, re-mounted on card for a safer journey and storage.

Vintage/antique paperweight button. Patches of sparkly gold aventurine are laid on a dark glass base, and covered with a clear glass dome which acts as a magnifier. The dark glass is mostly black with just a touch of blue from some angles of light. Metal loop shank is inserted directly into the glass. (white spots in the photo are just reflections of light.)

Vintage/antique picture button, showing a molded horse’s head in high relief, framed by a horse shoe. The metal has some kind of silvered finish on brass, though some of the silver has rubbed away. Two-part construction, hollow inside, and air holes on the flat back, with a stud type shank. An unusual equestrian collectable.
