Pair of charming antique buttons with face of a child molded in high relief. Traces of silver plated finish, but mostly rubbed off. Flat back and hollow centre with two air holes on the back, with one having two extra small holes on the back. Stud type shanks. They are not identical as the faces and hair arrangement are slightly different, but being sold as a pair as they seem to belong together. Possibly a mother and child (?) Antique English silver button, possibly representing Mary Queen of Scots in the centre - the face with a small farthingale collar - surrounded by pierced foliage/scrolls inside a rope rim. Hallmarked with the maker’s initials JW, lion for sterling silver, leopard’s head for London and a date letter. Two have the date letter “e” for 1900 and three have the date letter “g” for 1902, otherwise the same. Small U-shaped shank on the backs. Pattern is a little rubbed with age, and they might benefit from a gentle clean. Price is per button.

Hand-painted Victorian portrait on a pretty porcelain button. The portrait is of a young lady with dark hair, wearing a pink dress. Flat back with stud type shank and unglazed top to the shank. Slight wear to the paintwork and gold lustre rim, otherwise good vintage condition.

Antique enamel buttons depicting two figures in the style of “French Fops”, wearing exaggerated costumes of the late 18th century. Border of facetted cut steels individually rivetted through the base. Flat back and loop shank. The cut steels have lost some of their original sparkle, and the metal backs show signs of discolouration, but I have not attempted to clean them. The enamel is in good condition. Beautiful and rare collectables - price is per button.
