Antique buttons, with ceramic portrait of a young girl with red hair, wearing a purple dress, on a pale yellow background. I think this is a transfer print rather than hand painted, with possibly some hand painted touches. Ceramic plaque is set in a gilt metal frame and surrounded by a border of claw-set paste stones. Gilt metal back and loop shank. Probably late 19th century and a very pretty collectable. Price is per button.

This one is a square shape with a silver top (unmarked and untested) etched with an image of a bird perched on bamboo. Style shows Japanese influence, typical of the 1870’s. Back marked WESTS PATENT with the GW monogram trade mark. Attractive image and unusual collectable shape

Group of 6 small Victorian metal buttons, Austrian tiny type. These have an assortment of gilt metal or imitation cut steel motifs - flowers, tiara, scroll, crescent, trefoil, tassels etc Usual domed metal backs with metal loop shanks. One of them (top right in photos 1 and 3) has a tiny piece missing from the centre of one of the leaves. Still a charming little Victorian group. Price is for the 6 buttons as shown

Vintage/antique mother of pearl button, decorated with incised wavy lines and 3 paste stones - 2 clear and 1 red. The pearl is mostly white but with a pinky-brown colour on the surface, which is the natural colour of the shell. The pearl is set in a deep gilt metal rim which is molded and pierced, with traces of paintwork. Flat gilt metal back and U-shaped shank. One of the stones is possibly a replacement but I can’t be sure. An unusual collectable.

Interesting vintage glass buttons. Clear glass cylinder with facetted sides and flat surfaces top and bottom, and discs of rounded red glass attached to the flat surfaces. The cylinder is then turned on its side and has a metal loop shank inserted into the clear glass, secured with a metal collet. Vintage Art Deco style. Price is per button.
