Some of the recently added items are shown below :
Gorgeous antique lacey glass buttons. Pressed clear glass image of a stylised peacock - long neck curving round into a spread of feathers. The beak and crest are highlighted with gold lustre but most of the colour is painted on the back - a silvery neck, and the feathers shading from silver to blue. The back is then coated in black to preserve the colours. Four-way metal box shank. There is some flaking to the black paint on the back, leaving a missing patch around 11 o’clock position on each of the buttons as shown in the last photo. But overall fabulous buttons, rare collectable lacey glass, and even rarer to find a figurative subject. Price is per button
Size 7/8” (2.2 cm)
Early flat metal button, made of tombac or some kind of metal alloy. Dates to the late 18th or very early 19th century. It has a delicately engraved pattern in the centre, around a circle of incised dots, the whole surface covered in gilding. Flat back and “alpha” type shank. The gilding is wearing off but enough remains to give an idea of how sparkly and wonderful this button once was.
Size 1.2” (3.1 m)
Pretty vintage/antique button in the form of a flower, the petals made of delicate filigree wire arranged around a central ball. Possibly Swiss silver but unmarked and untested. Loop shank.

Size 1.1” (2.7 cm)
Small antique button with purple enamel dome and tiny gold flower centre surrounded by gold crescents. This is held in a gilt metal rim, with gilt metal back and loop shank. Sadly there is a small rim chip to the purple (11 o’clock position) but still a very pretty button.

Pair of antique French sporting buttons showing a huntsman and his dog. The first is inscribed VA DONC (translates as Go on!) and shows the man pointing at his dog, with a hare in the background. The second is inscribed PAUVRE BETE (poor beast) with the huntsman crying into a handkerchief and the dog lying at his feet. A charming and amusing pair of buttons. Thin silver plated on copper. with flat back and stud type shank. Some rubbing to the silver plate so I have not attempted to clean them. Price is for the pair
