Large, vintage, celluloid button in the Art Deco style featuring a deer-like animal with long curving horn - which I think is an oryx. The long horn forms part of the design and blends into the rim. One-piece construction, with a grey and cream wash, to accentuate the design. Dotted or stippled background. Applied domed shank with backplate, typical of celluloid buttons of the 1930’s.

Vintage turned button made of polished serpentine stone, probably from Cornwall. This is a naturally occurring form of metamorphic rock. The natural pattern of grey-green lines is reminiscent of snakeskin, hence the name serpentine. This button as some chips on the back but fine on the front.
