Lovely antique dress buckle, octagonal shape, the frame decorated with mauve and white basse taille enamel, embellished with dots at each corner in the mauve colour. Silver back with single bar and two prongs and a chape which swivel independently around the bar. The chape is hallmarked with maker’s initials L&S, anchor for Birmingham, lion for sterling silver and date letter “w” for 1896. One of the prongs is also stamped with the lion. Very smart collectible buckle, in good vintage condition.
