Large antique brown coat button. I believe these are processed horn (horn ground to a powder and mixed with some kind of resin) covered in a thin veneer of tortoiseshell. Smooth, shiny, slightly domed top, laminated to the creamy coloured flat back with raised rounded shank. Semi-translucent when held to the light (see photo 3). Fairly plain but nice quality, and gorgeous old buttons, probably late 19th or early 20th century. Price is per button
