Antique solitaire button, which detachable shank which is released with a spring mechanism. The ceramic (or enamelled?) top is blue with a white cartouche outlined in silver foiled scrolls, and over-painted with flowers. Unusual oval shaped shank. Backstamped: DOWLER & SMITH’S PATENT. Very pretty example
