Large antique button depicting a pair of Incroyable and Merveilleuse figures, known as French Fops - a kind of parody displaying the exaggerated costumes worn by some in the late French Revolution. Button dates to the late 19th century.. Tinted brass figures over a brown painted metal background, with inner white metal lining and outer pressed metal rim. Black painted meal back with metal loop shank.
