Pair of livery studs - Primum Tutare Dominum

£6.50

Pair of vintage white metal buttons with stud type shanks. They have a pierced rim, surrounding a shield which has an engraved image of a raised arm, wearing armour, and holding a sword. The motto around the shield reads: PRIMUM TUTARE DOMINUM. This translates as First Protect the Lord - possibly an idea aligned with Quo Primum, i.e. protecting the use of the Latin missal in the Catholic church. Anyway an interesting pair of cuff buttons - price is for the pair.

Size 7/8” (2.2 cm)
