Vintage/antique button with detailed pressed metal image of a female head, dressed in Elizabethan style with a ruff and farthingale - believed to be a portrait of Mary Stuart (Mary Queen of Scots) The image is in high relief and mounted on a smokey mother of pearl base, with carved notches round the edge. Dark natural shell back and metal loop shank secured with a small metal collet. (Cf BBB Plate 220.14)
