Antique solitaire button with detachable shank which is released with a spring mechanism. The top is covered in brown faux tortoiseshell, embellished with a brass horse shoe. I think the brown is celluloid - though this would be unusual for this type of solitaire. Metal back and shank. Backstamped WEST’S PATENT with the rising sun logo.
