English silver, 18th century, with monogram

£20.00

Antique 18th century silver button, inscribed with a monogram in fancy script - looks like JM. Hallmarked on the back with the maker’s initials WT, and just the lion for sterling silver. Flat back and thick loop shank. An early silver button before the addition of Assay office and date letter were in common use. Slight scratches and dinks commensurate with age but still a handsome button.

Size 15/16” (2.4 cm)
