Antique silver button, depicting Diana, the Roman goddess of hunters, also a “patroness of the countryside and nature, wildlife, childbirth, crossroads, the night, and the Moon” according to Wikipedia. She is shown here seated among trees, with a bow in her right hand, and her two hunting dogs at her feet, surrounded by a pretty neo-rococo border of shells and scrolls. Hallmarked with the lion for sterling silver, date letter “g” for 1902, F for foreign or imported silver, and leopard’s head for London Assay office. Well modelled, very pretty, collectable.
