Silver thistle, rose, and shamrock, London 1901
Silver thistle, rose, and shamrock, London 1901
£15.00
Hallmarked English silver buttons, with pierced design of the thistle, rose and shamrock - national emblems of Scotland, England and Ireland. Made in 1901, the year of Queen Victoria’s death, so probably some kind of commemorative. U-shaped shank. Hallmarked with maker’s initials TW, lion for sterling silver, leopard’s head for London Assay office, and date letter “f” for 1901. The design looks softly rubbed (or may have been made that way). Nice clear hallmarks. Price is per button.
