Small silver L'Aiglon, Birmingham 1902

£9.50

Very small silver button, with image of Sarah Bernhardt playing L’Aiglon, with eagle headed border. This was the tragedy play about the death of Napoleon’s only son, which was first performed in 1900. There are many varieties of this button but unusual to find one in silver and one so small. Hallmarked on the back with maker’s initials L&S, anchor for Birmingham, lion for sterling silver, and date letter “c” for 1902. A charming collectable.

Size 1/2” (1.2 cm)
