Antique passementerie button, with cream fabric over a solid core, embellished with tiny steel beads, some dyed pink, arranged in a spiral pattern, with a claw-set red paste stone in the centre. This is surrounded by a beaded border, embellished at intervals with foil backed red glass cabuchons held in metal collars. The outer rim consists of groups of 3 steel beads with a gap between. Flat back looks as if it is covered in paper(?), possibly a later addition, with a metal ring stitched to the middle. Probably late 19th or early 20th century beadwork. Very pretty and collectable.
