Early English silver button, hand engraved and decorated with the initials JC, amongst scrolls of foliage. Flat back and thick shank. Backmarked with the maker’s initials TW (or IW ?), and the lion for sterling silver. No Assay office stamp, nor date letter, which was normal for the late 18th century. Charming decoration. Very nice collectable.

This is set on a grey metal background, and surrounded by fancy pierced metal border with gilt metal swags and fleur de lis over a silver coloured metal background. Black painted metal back and loop shank.

Full English hallmarks: maker’s initials JM, lion for sterling silver, leopard’s head for London and date letter “f” for 1901. Stamped stained brass image is surrounded by an inner silver coloured lining rim, and outer pressed metal rim. Two-part construction with black painted metal back and loop shank. There is some lettering impressed in the back, but I could not read it.
